The UHF RFID system consists of readers, antennas, and RFID tags.

 

· Factor 1: Transmitting power of reader.

The greater the transmit power of the reader, the greater the reading distance.

 

· Factor 2: Reader antenna gain and beam width.

The larger the antenna gain and the smaller the beam width, the longer the reading and writing distance, the narrower the range, and the better the control of the reading range

 

· Factor 3: Sensitivity of readers and tags.

The sensitivity of the tag chip and the reader can affect the reading and writing distance. The higher the sensitivity, the farther the reading and writing distance will be.

 

· Factor 4: the number of multiple tags

In a multi-tag environment, the number of tags read by RFID per unit time will also affect the multi-tag reading and writing performance of the reader.

 

· Factor 5: The reader's processing algorithm for collision problems

Generally speaking, there are two types of collision problems with tags:

1. Multi-tag collision: collisions caused by multiple tags communicating with a reader. In this case, you can adjust the reader's own anti-collision algorithm to solve this problem.

2. Collision of multiple readers: When multiple readers communicate with a tag at the same time, you can set the reader to different sessions (calls) to communicate with the tag or turn off other readers during testing to solve.

 

· Factor 6: Material of label sticker

Metal and liquid will have an impact on electromagnetic waves. Specially designed anti-metal tags and anti-liquid tags are required:

1. Liquid application-a specially designed liquid label must be used;

2. Metal surface-anti-metal tags must be used.

 

If you encounter labels of these two materials, you can also use a standing label-the label is not directly attached to the surface of the metal or liquid container, the chip and the antenna part are not in contact with the container, and you need to pay attention to the way the items are placed in liquid and metal applications. , Excessive stacking will result in low reading rate of the inner layer.

 

· Factor 7: Test environment

The RFID performance test is recommended to be carried out in an open environment. The presence of metal or liquid obstacles between the reader antenna and the tag, and the presence of electromagnetic interference close to the frequency in the environment will affect the test performance.

First of all, it is necessary to confirm whether there are metal obstacles in the test environment, such as metal mesh. Dense metal mesh will shield the UHF signal and cause greater attenuation, making it impossible to read the tag information.

 

Secondly, if you are in a warehouse full of goods, you need to consider whether the nature of the goods (metal, liquid, clothing, etc.) will affect electromagnetic waves, and also need to avoid multi-layer stacking. At the same time, RFID equipment should be kept away from other items to avoid cross-reading.
